Just outside Beatty Nevada you’ll find a weathered sign promising the services of a long-closed brothel, and next to it, an aircraft covered in generations of tags.
The plane, a Twin Beach, made an abrupt and final landing in the 1970s as the unexpected end to a marketing stunt—or perhaps a dare—gone wrong. Sit at the bar in town for a while and you’ll get a number of stories.
